Once upon a time – the history of Oldenburg

In 2008 Oldenburg celebrated its 900th anniversary, as it was first mentioned in a document dated 1108. For more than 800 years through to the 20th century it was home to counts, dukes and grand dukes. Numerous buildings such as the Palace, the Prince's Palace and the Elisabeth Anne Palace remind us of this splendid age. Oldenburg became a city when tens of thousands of refugees flocked to the area after World War II.  Come with us on a trip to the past.
